Hi-Fi的英文原词是High Fidelity,简称HI-FI,意为高保真。高保真指声频录音及放音系统或设备具有如实反映声音信号本来面貌的能力,以及设备对声音信号进行特定修饰、加工处理和声场再现时声像位置及其移动的逼真程度。
评价一个音响系统或设备是否符合高保真要求,一般应采用主观听音评价和客观指标测试相结合的方式来进行,并以客观测试指标为主要依据。因为采用仪器测试设备的性能指标,能得到很直观的可供参考比较的定量结果,无疑是最科学而值得信赖的。
然而,随着技术的进步和人们对音响设备各种失真机制的进一步认识,传统的“静态”测试方法和频响、失真度、信噪比三大考核指标已不足以全面反映设备的音质,有时会出现测试指标与听音评价不一致的情况。如现代晶体管功效频响已可达(0一100)kHz以上,失真度也可达0.01%以下,音质已相当好,但与频响约30Hz一18kHz,失真度1%左右的电子管功放相比,许多人还是认为电子管功放的音质比晶体管功放好。而训练有素的专业人员通过听音评价就能直接对设备的音质作出比较切合实际的定性判断。故在测试手段尚未进一步完善时辅以主观听音来对设备进行音质评价很有必要。
听音评价时,应按照通用的评价术语对设备的音质进行综合评价。但主观听音评价方式难免带点主观随意性,有时容易受参评人员的听音素养、听音心理、习惯、爱好以及听音环境和方式等因素的影响而得出有争议的结果。这时则应以客观测试结果为主要评价依据。
那么什么样的音响器材的重放声音才是Hi-Fi呢?迄今为止仍难以作出确切的结论。音响界的专业人士借助于各类仪器,通过各种手段,检测出各种指标来决定器材Hi-Fi的程度,而音响发烧友则往往通过自己的耳朵去判断器材是否达到心目中的Hi-Fi。判别重放声音高保真程度的高低,不仅需要有性能优良的器材和软件,而且还要有良好的听音环境。因此,如何正确衡量音响器材的Hi-Fi程度,还存在着客观测试和主观评价的差别,但是有一点是可以肯定的,那就是忠实还原,真实地再现最纯正的音乐情感。

The History of Yamaha Separate Amplifiers (Since 1974)
A mere two years after re-entering the HiFi component market in 1974, Yamaha shocked the audio world again with the first all-FET power amplifier, the B-1, which used a vertical power FET (SIT) developed in house. The next year, the C-1 dreadnought-scale control amp far surpassed conventional models, and in 1976 the slim C-2 followed quickly in succession, winning worldwide praise. Many of the technical innovations were used in integrated and AV amplifiers later, and formed the base of Yamaha’s sound creation.

The History of Natural Sound Speakers (Since 1968)
Having interrupted the launch of new HiFi products from the late 1950s to the 1960s in order to focus its development resources on the revolutionary new Electone electronic organ, in 1968 Yamaha began its history as a HiFi speaker manufacturer by repurposing and improving the Electone’s NS (Natural Sound) Speaker for HiFi audio use. Released in 1974 and featuring the world’s first pure beryllium diaphragm, the NS-1000/1000M won worldwide acclaim for its clear and open sound, and after that models such as the NS-451 and NS-10M, producing good quality sound at a reasonable price thanks to the unique sheet method of manufacturing. Not to mention the AST-1, which employed active servo technology to expand speaker limits by actively controlling air vibrations and built confidence in the overall strength of Yamaha’s ingenious approach to sound.
